Lions roar…90-7: East Mississippi CC continues to pile up offensive numbers

SCOOBA – The East Mississippi Community College offense has been very good all season long.
They went to another level on Saturday. 
The No. 3 Lions scored on their first nine offensive possessions and they rolled to a 90-7 victory over Coahoma Community College on homecoming afternoon at Sullivan-
Windham Field.

It's a good idea to take a calculator when going to watch an East Mississippi Community College football game.
Sometimes that's the only way to keep track of all the scoring.
The things that the Lions are doing on the football field, both offensively and defensively, this season are nothing short of incredible.
Points are coming for EMCC and are coming in large numbers.

Bulldogs ready to start practice

Coach Rick Ray's second season at Mississippi State will be very different than his first.
The Bulldogs suffered several injuries and saw an average of seven players available for most games.
Many of those players were young and inexperienced, but this season those guys have a year of play under their belt.
MSU starts practice Monday and Ray is anxious to see how his guys will play.

Callahan wins state skeet title

Most people travel to the Mississippi Gulf Coast for sun, seafood and relaxation.
For Starkville resident Marie Callahan, the trip to Biloxi on Sept. 13-15, was for a much different reason.
Callahan, along with over 30 other competitors, convened on the coastal city to take part in the 2013 Mississippi Skeet Championships, which were held at the Gulf Coast Rifle and Pistol Club.

Jackets ground Falcons: Jones' score before halftime gives SHS momentum

COLUMBUS – The Starkville Yellowjackets gained all the momentum at the end of first half.
The Yellowjackets rode that momentum as they outscored Class 6A, Region 2 Columbus 28-6 in the second half on the way to a 35-13 victory Friday night at Falcon Field.

Vols blanks Patriots on homecoming

It has often been said that defense wins games.
That was certainly the case for Starkville Academy on Friday night, as the Volunteers held off the visiting Winston Academy Patriots 14-0.
Penalties proved to be a big factor early for SA, as a total of five offensive penalties in the first quarter resulted in two scoreless possessions.

Bradley leads Chargers to win

ACKERMAN – Jamarcus Bradley was the story of the game for the Choctaw County Chargers.
As the team defeated Caledonia 49-42, Bradley had 375 yards and four touchdowns on 30 carries.
"He played his best game of the year (Friday night)," Choctaw County coach Adam Dillinger said. "When you can put up that many yards as athletic as he is, you always have a chance. He just did a great job."

French Camp defeats West Oktibbeha 49-6 at home

FRENCH CAMP – There is no substitute for actual game action to get a team ready to compete.
No one knows this more than the West Oktibbeha Timberwolves, who are still trying to find their identity after getting a bit of a delayed start to the season.
