MATHISTON - Jack Wilson is a student of the game.
As the quarterback of the East Webster Wolverines, Wilson tries to soak up as much knowledge as he can to best lead his team to victories on Friday nights.
"I love the game," Wilson said. "I try (to keep my head in the playbook). The more you are around it, the more you know. I've grown up in it. It's a plus for me since I'm around it so much."

SMITH COLUMN: Fans put up with yawners in week four

There were some games that were considered definite yawners in week four of the college football season.
With finals scores like 76-0, 72-0, 77-7, 70-7 and yes even 62-7, it caused fans to have a hard time staying interested for the entire game.

MSU's football story, Jekyll, Hyde

It has been a case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with the Mississippi State football team this season.
After losing 21-3 to Oklahoma State in Houston, Texas, in week one, the Bulldogs came home and rolled over Alcorn State 51-7.
MSU traveled to Auburn, Ala., next to take on the Tigers. After leading for much of the second half, the Bulldogs lost in the final minute and fell to Auburn 24-20.

Mississippi State University and East Mississippi Community College are receiving gifts of $250,000 each from Yokohama Tire Corporation, announced at a Sunday press conference in West Point the night before Yokohama’s groundbreaking ceremony for its new Clay County plant.
