Cowboys lasso Bulldogs: MSU offense falters down stretch in loss

HOUSTON – Mississippi State football coach Dan Mullen saw his offense find a rhythm early on, but lose it down the stretch Saturday.
The Bulldogs dropped a 21-3 decision to No. 13 (Associated Press) Oklahoma State in the Advocare Texas Kickoff in Reliant Stadium.

Mississippi State defense limits OSU to 21 points

HOUSTON – There was a good bit of speculation that the Mississippi State defense could not stand up to the uptempo offensive style of Oklahoma State.
The Bulldog defense held the No. 13 (Associated Press) Cowboys to just 21 points in a 21-3 loss at Reliant Stadium on Saturday. 
The Cowboys averaged 46 points per game last season.

Production not enough in MSU volleyball loss

Mississippi State’s volleyball team lost 3-1, on Saturday to Southeast Missouri in four sets.
The Bulldogs are now 2-2 for the season.
Despite the loss, sophomore Taylor Scott notched a double-double with 19 kills and 15 digs. Joining her teammate in the double-double category was freshman Kimmy Gardiner who picked up 15 kills and 21 digs.

Mistakes hurt Bulldogs against Trojans in volleyball

A young team can be expected to make a few errors during the course of the season.
For the first time, the Mississippi State Bulldogs were hurt by mistakes during a volleyball match Saturday afternoon in the Maroon Classic and lost a 3-1 decision to the University of Arkansas-Little Rock.

Shooting reported near MSU

Mississippi State University reported a shooting at the Sprint Mart on Blackjack Road just west of campus early Saturday morning.
The university issued a Maroon Alert text message warning at 12:53 a.m. Saturday, warning students and alert subscribers that a shooting had been reported at the convenience store.

East Webster nips Noxapater 20-19

NOXAPATER – The East Webster Wolverines fought hard Friday night to claim a close 20-19 victory on the road at Noxapater.
“It was a battle,” Wolverine coach Doug Wilson said. “We knew coming in that Noxapater had a great ball team and they didn’t let us down. It was a hard fought game and they are a fine team. We got behind, but the guys just kept fighting and weathered the storm.”

Eupora cruises to 51-21 victory over French Camp

EUPORA – The Eupora Eagles improved to 2-0 this season as the Eagles knocked off French Camp 51-21.
Ask Eagles coach Junior Graham what is leading to his team’s success and he attributes it all to “experience” and hard work.

Starkville and Oxford met in the inaugural “Little Egg Bowl” in Starkville on Friday night, and it was the visiting Chargers who picked up the 35-24 win, in a second half full of struggles for the Yellowjackets.

MSU sweeps the first volleyball match of the season

Freshman Kimmy Gardiner and the Mississippi State Bulldogs may have had some nerves early during the first volleyball match of the season.
As the action progressed, the Bulldogs became more and more comfortable and went on to defeat Southeast Missouri 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-18) on Friday afternoon to open the Maroon Classic at Newell-Grissom Building.
