Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning is launching a new Teacher Education Scholars Program (TESP) that will award full scholarships to high-performing incoming college freshmen who pursue teaching careers.

Johnthan Banks and Darius Slay anchored a very talented and experienced cornerbacks group last season.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs don't have Banks or Slay this season. Both players have moved on to the National Football League.
New cornerbacks coach Deshea Townsend takes over one of the more raw position groups on the field for the Bulldogs.

Leonard Harpole McMullin

Leonard Harpole McMullin, of Mathiston, was born January 18, 1955, in Anderson, IN, and died August 13, 2013, at University Memorial Medical Center, Jackson, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash. Leonard graduated from Anderson University and attended Ol’ Miss before entering a career in construction project management that led him to Hawaii and overseas.

MSU hosts exhibition match

The Mississippi State Bulldogs didn't take it easy on themselves in finding an opponent to open the 2013 soccer season.
Even though its an exhibition game, MSU coach Aaron Gordon went out to find the best competition possible.
He believes South Florida out of the Big East Conference fits that idea. The Bulldogs challenge the Bulls tonight at home.

Volunteers are ready for 'dress rehearsal'

There's a certain advantage high school coaches get if they can get their teams into a preseason jamboree.
Before the Starkville Academy Volunteers open the season at Lamar School next week, they will take part in a jamboree today at Jackson Academy. It allows Starkville Academy the opportunity for a preseason warm-up and to knock any rust off while getting a game type feel.

Eupora hosts jamboree action

While it may not be time to officially kick off the season, jamborees give fans just a taste of what's to come.
Eupora is one of those schools as tonight they will take to the gridiron for the first time other than practice to host Meet the Eagles and a jamboree.

Yokohama office comes to Starkville
