MSU's Cohen committed to helping children's hospital

One of the things that the Mississippi State baseball team did during their recent stay in Omaha, Neb., for the College World Series was visit the children's hospital there.
It made quite an impression on MSU head baseball coach John Cohen.

Andrews era begins at SA

Starkville Academy will have a new coach to kick off the Lady Volunteers' 2013 soccer campaign.
Cole Andrews, a 2007 Starkville Academy graduate, will take over the reins for the Lady Vols, following Robert Garner's departure.
“It's an honor," Andrews said. "It's a wonderful opportunity with a sport I really care about and love."

It all started on a trip to the Wal-Mart craft center with her mom last summer. After making a few bracelets with her mom, Kaytlyn Hurst decided she wanted to make and sell jewelry and use the money to donate toys to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Thomas Woods, 63, died July 20, 2013 in Eupora.

Memorial services were held on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at noon at West Memorial Chapel, Starkville, MS. It was officiated by Dr. Charlie F. Barnes, Sr.

West Memorial was in charge of arrangements.

Jessie Neely, Jr.,86, died July 24, 2013 in Starkville.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Peter's Rock Temple COGIC, Starkville, with Reverend Quincy Patterson, officiating.

Visitation will be Monday, July 29, 2013 from 1:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at West Memorial Funeral Home, Starkville,MS.

Burial will follow at Mt. Peiler Cemetery.
