MSU receives $2.1 million juvenile grant

Mississippi State University has received a $2.1 million grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) to conduct a 5-year study on prevention and treatment services for drug abuse and HIV in the juvenile justice system.

In his first four seasons, Dan Mullen's opener has been what some might call "a walk in the park" as the football coach at Mississippi State.

Braves hurting without a pair of SEC hurlers

The Atlanta Braves appeared to be in good shape to make a serious run at the National League pennant and a spot in the World Series with two former Southeastern Conference pitchers anchoring their staff.
That notion has taken a big hit over the last week as both Paul Maholm, who pitched at Mississippi State from 2001-03, and Tim Hudson, a product of Auburn, both went down with injuries.

City transitions after CAO fired

Starkville Board of Aldermen on Tuesday elected to uphold its original vote to terminate Chief Administrative Officer Lynn Spruill’s employment with the city, overriding a veto issued by Mayor Parker Wiseman.

MSU professor charged with sexual battery

Starkville Police Department reported on Wednesday the arrest of Yoginder Dandass, 46, of Starkville on suspicion of sexual battery.

According to the SPD release, Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Department arrested Dondas on Monday, following a lengthy SPD investigation into the matter.
