OMAHA, Neb. – Ross Mitchell has been a big part of Mississippi State's success this season and has seen a good amount of playing time.
The sophomore left hander has made 33 appearances for the Bulldogs this season and leads the team with 13 wins.
Many people might think he is focused and has a serious attitude about himself all the time. That is not true.

For Tupelo coach Craig Bane, it was something more.
It was a homecoming for Bane, a former Starkville Academy and Mississippi State baseball player.

Redbirds beat Freaks to make Class A semis

The Mississippi Redbirds and Mississippi Bashers continued to remain alive in the championship bracket of Class A through the afternoon hours on Saturday during the United States Specialty Sports Association 11-Under State Tournament.
The Bashers out-scored the PSA Blacksox 12-8 early on Saturday, while the Redbirds took care of business to defeat the Diamond Freaks 13-7.

Chris Reed wanted to pass on the thrill of the race to his son, Hunter Reed.
Chris said he spent more than 10 years racing stock cars, and he was one of several in the Starkville area who approached their children about kart racing, developing a few backyard tracks for practice.
