Board of Supervisors to discuss county lake lease

The Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors may consider leasing additional land at the Oktibbeha County Lake to John Barnett and former Mississippi State basketball coach Rick Stansbury at a meeting on Monday morning.

Volunteers help with camp

Marquez Branson and Odie Rush remember what it's like to grow up in Starkville and have role models.
On Saturday, they were looking to provide someone for the next generation to look up to.
Branson and Rush were part of a group of volunteers helping coach Rodney Johnson of the Starkville Cowboys with the second spring football camp on Saturday at Westside Park.

SHS ready for Class 5A North meet

Normally yellowjackets fly, but on today, the Starkville High variety will be running, jumping and throwing.
Beginning early this morning, the SHS team will board buses bound for Oxford and what girls coach Caroline Woomer expects to be an “intense” Class 5A North State meet.
Boys coach Steve Griffin is equally as thrilled about the Jackets’ potential.

Howington passes reins as MSU bass club pres

Shane Howington has served as the president of Mississippi State's bass fishing club team for the past two years.
On Friday, Howington took his last final at Mississippi State.
He will pass the reins to New Hope native Justin Atkins.
Over the last two years. the bass team has enjoyed success.
