Jackets beat Chargers 6-5 in baseball

OXFORD – Three Starkville High School pitchers kept the Oxford Charger bats at bay long enough for the Yellowjackets to go on the road and get the second-round Class 5A playoffs series started on the right note.
Max Bartlett, Tanner Jones and Tanner Clanton of SHS combined to hold Oxford to seven hits on its home field and the Jackets came away with a 6-5 victory on Tuesday night.

SA drops first game of baseball series

GREENVILLE – The Starkville Academy Volunteers have their game faces on as it prepares for game two of the MAIS AAA-II baseball playoffs.
After dropping game one by a score of 3-1 to Washington School, the Vols look for more production on Thursday than they did in Tuesday's first outing.

Volunteers qualify for State golf tourney

JACKSON – Behind the 75 carded by Alex Bedwell, the Starkville Academy Volunteers shot a 319 at the Jackson Country Club Tuesday afternoon, which was good enough to finish third in AAA South State and qualified them for the State tournament.

T. Glen Reeves

Dr. T. Glen Reeves, 72, died Sunday, December 23, 2012, at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville, MS.  A memorial service for Glen will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2012, at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Memories on the Mississippi State University campus.  The Reverend Lynn Phillips-Gaines of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Starkville, MS, will officiate.
