Eupora beaten in first round game of Class 2A softball playoffs

EUPORA – It wasn't the type of start the Eupora Lady Eagles were looking for in the Class 2A State softball playoffs.
After falling behind 5-0 the Hatley Tigers in the first inning, the Lady Eagles cut the margin to two runs before giving up eight more runs in the fourth frame and ended up losing a 14-4 decision at home in five innings.

Starkville School District’s recent discussions about expanding Emerson Family Center’s preschool program have left the future of Emerson’s toddler and infant care programs in question, creating concern in Emerson’s Parent Teacher Organization.

Dogs, Tigers suspended

The Mississippi State Bulldogs looked to be on the way to their fourth-straight Southeastern Conference victory.
Then lightening struck, literally.
The No. 18 Bulldogs (30-9, 8-7) were leading the Auburn Tigers (23-14, 5-10) 6-3 Thursday night in the bottom of the seventh inning when a flash of lightning was seen in the sky.

Jackets focus, sweep Tigers

The Starkville High School tennis team did a good job of focusing on the task at hand Thursday afternoon.
Despite the potential distractions, the Yellowjackets swept the first round Class 5A playoff match over the Saltillo Tigers 7-0 at home.

Lady Bulldogs fall in second round of SEC Tournament

The Mississippi State women's tennis team were gaining momentum as Thursday's match with the Tennessee Lady Volunteers progressed.
Too bad for the Lady Bulldogs that they found it a little late.
The No. 12 seed MSU was ousted from the Southeastern Conference women's tennis tournament at A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre on the Lady Bulldogs' campus by a 4-0 loss to No. 5 seed Tennessee. 

Maye to sign copies of book in Starkville

Former Mississippi State and Clemson football player Brandon Maye has a story to share.
The Mobile, Ala., native is doing that through motivational speeches and with his new book "Diamond in the Rough." It's a message that Maye believes can benefit others.

SA Volunteers obtain experience in twin bill

After clinching the division earlier in the week, Starkville Academy decided to give its younger players the chance to gain experience during a Thursday doubleheader contest with Parklane Academy.
Playing a majority of underclassmen, the Volunteers fell to the Parklane Pioneers 14-0 during the first game.

Midway through the Southeastern Conference portion of its baseball schedule, Mississippi State has found its stride.
The No. 18 (Collegiate Baseball) Bulldogs (30-9, 8-7) welcome the Auburn Tigers (23-14, 5-10) to Dudy Noble Field starting today.

MSU women rally for victory, advance at SEC Tournament

The Mississippi State Lady Bulldogs dropped the first set in four of five singles matches to the Missouri Tigers on Wednesday.
Even in the face of that adversity, the Lady Bulldogs found a way to rally and earned a 4-2 victory over the 56th-ranked Tigers in the first round of the Southeastern Conference Tournament at the Pitts Tennis Centre.
