Ruth D. Peil, 88, devoted mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Kosciusko.

Martha Anne Ferriss Parker

Martha Anne Ferriss Parker, of Florence, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on April 7, 2013. She was born October 29, 1926 in Shaw, Mississippi to William Douglas and Lellie Meadow Ferriss. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to so many. Martha Anne grew up in Shaw, Mississippi and graduated from Shaw High School, Class of 1944.

Jonathan Brown

Jonathan Kensey Brown, 46, passed away on April 9, 2013 in Columbus, MS.  He was a Helicopter Test Pilot for American Eurocopter and had been a pilot for 28 years.  He was also a graduate of Embry Riddle, where he received his bachelor's degree in Aeronautics Safety and recently attended Pinelake Church in Starkville.  He loved to fish and go to the beach with his children.  He was an excellent fa

MSU beats Ole Miss in Pearl

PEARL – The Mississippi State Bulldogs didn't take advantage of many early opportunities, but found away in the later innings Tuesday night.
The No. 26 (Collegiate Baseball) Bulldogs beat in-state rival Ole Miss 5-1 in the Governor's Cup at Trustmark Park.

WEST POINT – The Mississippi State men's golf team has been playing some its best golf lately.
On Tuesday, the Bulldogs continued their strong play with a win in the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship at the Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point.

MSU working on running back depth

LaDarius Perkins got a majority of the duties at running back for the Mississippi State Bulldogs a season ago.
Early in spring practice, there have been several other tailbacks that have been given an opportunity to show they can play for the Bulldogs in the Southeastern Conference.

Vols rally to defeat Cougars at home

The Starkville Academy Volunteers tried on the rally caps Tuesday night.
After falling behind early in the game, Starkville Academy battled back to defeat Hillcrest Christian 10-3 at Volunteer Field.

SHS blanks Yazoo City on the road

YAZOO CITY – The Starkville Yellowjackets were able to pick up a Class 5A, Region 3 victory on the road Tuesday afternoon with a 10-0 shutout of the Yazoo City Indians.

Starkville Christian School picks up 11-8 home victory

The Starkville Christian School Lady Cougars scored six runs in the fourth inning and rallied to beat Grace Christian School 11-8 Tuesday afternoon at the Starkville Sportsplex.
