MSU president emeritus Zacharias dies

Donald W. Zacharias, whose 12-year tenure as Mississippi State University's president was second longest in the institution's history, died Sunday at age 77 of complications from multiple sclerosis at a Starkville nursing facility.

The Lady Vols defeated Presbyterian Christian 54-33 Saturday afternoon at the A.E. Wood Coliseum on the campus of Mississippi College to cap a perfect 43-0 season.

The pitching stepped up to lead the way and the Bulldogs rallied for a 4-1 win over St. Joseph's on a cold Saturday afternoon at Dudy Noble Field.

The Bulldogs (13-0) got solid pitching outings from both Evan Mitchell and Ross Mitchell.

Starkville High splits doubleheader

On a cold and snowy Saturday, Starkville High School’s bats got hot as it defeated Ethel 13-2.

The Yellowjackets 13 runs came off of nine hits, which were highlighted by Jalen Campbell, Tanner Clanton and A.J. Brown, who each got two hits in the ballgame.

Scoring took place early in the game for SHS beginning with two runs in the first and one in the second inning.
