JACKSON — An ice storm warning was out for much of the Mississippi Delta until 6 p.m. Tuesday as motorists were being warned of continuing icy conditions on roads and bridges — a warning that extended into northeastern counties.

The Starkville Board of Aldermen will consider hiring a part-time parking enforcement officer during its 5:30 p.m. recess meeting tonight at City Hall.
Approval of the position would require appropriation of additional funds to supplement Starkville Police Department’s budget. Funding for the temporary position would not exceed $11,000 for the 2013 fiscal year.
Before Jonathan B. Jarvis became director of the National Park Service, Walter Diehl knew him as a classmate and fraternity brother.
Diehl, now associate dean of Mississippi State University’s College of Arts and Sciences, said he and Jarvis were both biology majors at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va., and they were both part of the Sigma Chi fraternity.

WEST POINT — Mr. Joey Perry, 55, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel in West Point with Rev. Kirby Loyd officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point.
Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 at Calvert Funeral Home.
Mrs. Joan O’Brian Wiggins, 82, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 at Starkville Manor. Â
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 at Center Grove Baptist Chruch with Brother Joel Hudson officiating.
Burial will follow in Center Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 at the church prior to services.
