MSU quarterbacks deal with injury bug

With all the injuries that have affected Mississippi State this season, it would be easy for head coach Dan Mullen to throw his hands up and give up.
Sophomore quarterback Dak Prescott missed Saturday's game against Alabama after suffering what Mullen calls a "stinger" against Texas A&M two weekends ago.

SHS begins Class 6A playoffs with strong effort

For years, teams have found success in football at Starkville High School.
The Yellowjackets were the Class 5A State champions last season. This year they look to repeat that success, but there is one little change. Instead of competing in Class 5A, Starkville is playing up a class in 6A.

Grant, Bulldogs cruise to victory

There was no slow start for Mississippi State women's basketball player Kendra Grant on Sunday.
Grant made 6-of-6 shots from the field in the first half, including both 3-point field goal attempts for 14 points as the Bulldogs scored 61 points by halftime.
MSU didn't look back and defeated New Orleans 111-38 at Humphrey Coliseum to improve its record to 3-0 this season.

Private Graveside services will be 11:00 am Tuesday at the Roberson Family Cemetery in Webster County. A visitation for the public will be Monday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Oliver Funeral Home in Eupora.

Defense keeps Bulldogs in game with Tide

Mississippi State's defense were thrust front and center on the national stage and accepted the biggest challenge of the season.
The Geoff Collins-led Bulldog defense did everything it could to give their offense a chance, but in the end it wasn't enough.
The Bulldogs fell 20-7 to No. 1 Alabama Saturday night at Davis Wade Stadium for their third-straight loss.

SMITH COLUMN: Opening half chance slips through MSU

Lost opportunities are magnified, especially against the No. 1 team in the nation.
When the chances at points come in certain situations, they have to be cashed in.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs didn't do that in the first half Saturday night against the Alabama Crimson Tide and lost a 20-7 decision at Davis Wade Stadium.

Russell starts for State for an injured Prescott

Picking who will start under center for Mississippi State this season, has been about as likely as picking the right combination of numbers in the lottery. 
Sophomore Dak Prescott has drawn the majority of starts for the Bulldogs at quarterback this season.
Prescott suffered what head coach Dan Mullen called a "stinger" in last Saturday's game against Texas A&M.

Lady Jackets pick up 1-0 win

Finishing has been an issue for the Starkville High School girls soccer team early this season.
On Saturday, those troubles faded slightly as the Lady Yellowjackets scored a 1-0 victory over Caledonia at the Starkville Sportsplex.
