One of those situations takes place for the fifth time Friday night between Northwest Rankin's Pete Hurt and Starkville's Jamie Mitchell. The Cougars head down Highway 25 to play the Yellowjackets at 7 p.m.

MSU women comfortable at Old Waverly, win by 21 shots

WEST POINT – The Mississippi State women's golf team likes playing close to home.
That showed that this week.
The Bulldogs won the Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational at their home course, Old Waverly, by 21 shots. MSU junior Ally McDonald shot a final round 5-under, 67 to finish with a 9-under, 207, and claimed first place by just one shot over freshman Jessica Peng.

Aldermen call for law review

Starkville’s Board of Aldermen unanimously approved a measure Tuesday calling for a review of the city’s landscaping and sidewalk ordinances.

The agenda item arose impromptu as it was not included in the board’s e-packet prior to the meeting. Instead, Aldermen Lisa Wynn and David Little, of Wards 2 and 3 respectively, presented it jointly as an agenda addition after the meeting began.
