Anytime a team suffers a tough loss it can put a damper on team morale.
Add in the fact that the loss eliminated the team from playoff contention and the potential damage is maximized.

Bulldogs get back on baseball practice field

When the Mississippi State baseball team steps onto Dudy Noble Field today to start fall practice, they will have several players staying in the dugout.
The Bulldogs have several players who are coming off of injuries and offseason surgery. Some have been hit with flu-like symptoms and possibly could sit out this weekend.

MSU women to show new faces during Maroon Madness

There will be a little bit of madness taking place today near The Junction.
After the homecoming parade, the men's and women's basketball programs will give fans a look at their teams in a public setting for the first time beginning at 6 p.m. on Creelman Street between Dorman Hall and The Junction.

Police seeking robbery suspect

Starkville Police Department is asking the public for help in searching for Joe Mitchell Gillespie.

The department described Gillespie as a 26-year-old, 6-6, 280-pound black male.

This year’s Maben Farmers’ Market has closed ahead of schedule due to low attendance from vendors and shoppers, but vendors and organizers report that the season as a whole was successful.

SHS to present ‘While the Lights Were Out’

Starkville High School theater opens on Friday when students take to the stage for “While the Lights were Out,” their first production of the year.

The play will start at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Starkville High School theater. Tickets are $5.

Game with Vols to help Panthers

Usually teams look forward to an open date for the rest, but not the Panthers of French Camp.
When the Panthers came across the opportunity to add a game to their already tough schedule, they jumped on it. For them, the chance to play a challenging team like Starkville Academy meant more in the long run than resting their players.

Greenville-Weston looks to get a home win Friday

The Greenville-Weston Hornets look to do something for the first time this season on Friday and that's to get a home victory.
In three home dates, the Hornets have suffered defeat. Greenville-Weston have lost to Grenada 32-14, to Greenwood 34-6 and to Class 6A, Region 2 opponent Murrah 33-13.
