Martha Mauney (Boyd) Teeter, 95, of Columbus, formerly of Lincolnton, N.C., died peacefully on Dec. 29, 2012, at Trinity Healthcare Center in Columbus.
Mr. Sylvester Jackson, 75,Â died Monday, Dec. 24, 2012 at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville.

Mr. John Seale Vaughan of Ponchatoula, La., 51, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, La.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Ponchatoula.
Visitation will be held noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 at the church prior to service.
According to Mississippi State University Director of University Relations Sid Salter, the university was the target of a cyber attack on one of its servers, but a preliminary investigation indicates that no secure data was lost.

The Starkville Academy girls basketball program experienced a first on Tuesday.
When the Lady Volunteers became ranked in the Clarion Ledger Super 10 girls poll, it was not only the first time SA had become a part of the rankings, but it's also the first time any private school squad has entered the listing.
It may not have been a perfect game for the Starkville Lady Yellowjackets in the first game of 2013 Tuesday night, but it was pretty good.
The Lady Jackets jumped out to a 25-9 lead after the first quarter against the visiting Aberdeen Lady Bulldogs and went on to secure a 66-29 victory at home.
The Starkville High School boys' basketball team gave itself plenty of opportunities to win, but when it was all said and done, it didn't capitalize.
The Yellowjackets dropped a 54-51 final to Aberdeen inside the Beehive.
"We had too many turnovers," SHS head coach Greg Carter said.
The Jackets turned the ball over 16 times, but shot 55 percent from the field.
MATHISTON â€“ The familiarity of playing a rivals proved beneficial for the East Webster Lady Wolverines Tuesday night.
The Lady Wolverines were able to pick up a 48-26 victory over the Ackerman Lady Indians at its home court at the former Wood Junior College gymnasium.
