Williams calls for Unity Park talks

A public meeting will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Oktibbeha County Courthouse Annex to address residents’ concerns over Unity Park.

District 5 Supervisor Joe Williams will moderate the discussion, which he said could lead to the nomination of a local civil rights and education pioneer to be featured on one of the park’s blank plaques.

Starkville School District officials confirmed trustees and Superintendent Lewis Holloway will travel to Jackson today to discuss a Miss. House bill which calls for the consolidation of Oktibbeha County school districts.

SCS Cougars hold on to get 69-65 victory

The Starkville Christian School Cougars could have given up to the pressure when the visiting Immanuel Christian Rams came back from a huge deficit to tie Thursday night's game.

However, the Cougars had worked too hard to establish a lead to let the Rams leave Starkville with a victory.

On Thursday night, the Mississippi State women's basketball team struggled scoring and gave the opposition plenty of opportunities.
