The Starkville Board of Aldermen voted to use a temporary part-time parking officer to enforce the two-hour parking rule in the downtown area Tuesday at its meeting.

Angela Turner Lairy, the daughter of former Miss. Sen. Bennie Turner, will follow in her father’s steps after defeating West Point resident Kenny Fowler in the Miss. Senate District 16 Special Election Tuesday.
Unofficial results as of press time had Turner Lairy, a Democrat, beating her opponent 4,325-1,716.
When many people think of Southeastern Conference football, they think of defense.

JACKSON – The Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers didn't waste any time getting a lead on Hillcrest Christian School Tuesday night and went on to defeat their hosts 67-30.
Starkville Academy, which improved to 24-0, jumped out to a 19-2 advantage and increased the margin to 39-16 at halftime.
