When Ann Biedenharn Jones began painting at the age of 12, she knew she was destined for a colorful life.
âI knew I wanted to be an artist and that I liked the creative process,â she said. âBut I never really knew starting out that I would stick to it.â

The Mississippi State University International Institute will bring together international experts and national policy makers for âTechnology Implementation at the Local Level: Food Security for the Future,â a day-long conference starting at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Colvard Student Union.
It takes big plays during the course of a football game to pull off big victories in the Southeastern Conference.
On Saturday at Davis Wade Stadium, the Mississippi State Bulldogs made several such plays in defeating the Auburn Tigers 28-10. It was the first win in an SEC opener for the Bulldogs since a 17-0 decision over South Carolina in 1999.
What do Johnthan Banks, Cameron Lawrence, Chad Bumphis and Marcus Green all have in common?
They are all senior members of the Mississippi State football team that contributed positive plays to Saturday's 28-10 victory over the Auburn Tigers.
For any squad to have a successful season, senior leadership is key. It appears after two games that the Bulldogs are solid in that area.
When Johnthan Banks came to Mississippi State from Class 2A East Webster, it was unknown what type of player he was going to develop into.
In his senior year, it's pretty clear what type of player he is and what he brings to the MSU defense.
Banks intercepted two passes in State's 28-10 victory over Auburn Saturday at Davis Wade Stadium.
The Starkville Academy Volunteers found their offense and played lock down defense, as it rolled to a blowout victory.
The Vols beat the Leake Academy Rebels 45-0 Friday night at JE Logan Field.
Starkville Academy, which evened its record at 2-2, was coming off two straight losses and although head coach Jeff Terrill didn't feel a sense of urgency, he was glad to get a victory.
