There's one word that the Mississippi State Bulldogs don't want to have anything to do with this week – letdown.
After defeating the Auburn Tigers 28-10 in its Southeastern Conference opener, it will be easy for overconfidence to set in at MSU. That doesn't need to happen.
The Starkville High School volleyball team is finding its form at the right time in the season.
The Lady Yellowjackets knocked off division foe Callaway 3-0 Tuesday night at the Beehive.
SHS improved its overall record to 11-11 and 2-0 in district play.
"This was a big win," SHS head coach Lauren Love said. "Callaway is athletic and they play a fast-paced match."
MABEN – With the game tied at 8-8 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Madison Flemmings walked to the plate.
She delivered a single up the middle to score Mamie Hollenhead and the East Webster softball team beat Eupora 9-8 in eight innings in district game.
The Lady Wolverines (11-2) entered the bottom of the seventh inning trailing 5-3. Autumn Frost hit a 2-run home run to tie the game.
WEST POINT – Mississippi State remains in fourth placed after two rounds of the inaugural Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational with a 598 team total.
The Lady Bulldogs stand at 22-over par which ranks among the best 36-hole totals in the programs history.
Additionally, State stands just 10 shots behind Southeastern Conference foe Kentucky.
