Grady Clark

Grady W. Clark Jr., 82, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012 at Brooklyn Hall Personal Care Home in Mathiston.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2012 at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow later in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point.
Visitation will be held 10-11 a.m. at Calvert Funeral Home.

Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.

Minnie Jo Liles

Minnie Jo Bell Liles passed away peacefully at her home in College Station, Texas the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012 in the company of Charlie Hillman Liles, her husband and life partner of 70 years.

A viewing for family and friends will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station, Texas.

With a few simple ingredients, Jay Yates is showcasing the best of Starkville’s local produce.

The owner and chef of The Veranda will lead a free cooking demonstration Saturday at Thyme from 4-6 p.m. highlighting locally grown vegetables and presenting modern culinary twists on classic Southern produce.

Starkville Academy hosts annual family rodeo event

The Starkville Academy Patrons Association is headed West for its second annual Rodeo Round-Up and Cow Patty Splat Saturday.

Scheduled from 4-8 p.m. at the Mississippi Horse Park, Facility Director Bricklee Miller said SAPA promises to bring even more excitement to the organization’s annual event.

Eupora pulls away from Noxapater 37-12

EUPORA – The Eupora Eagles defeated the Noxapater Tigers Friday night 37-12 to improve to 2-0 for the season in a game riddled with penalties and what was a defensive struggle early.

It wasn't the type of performance that the Starkville Academy Volunteers were looking for in their home opener at J.E. Logan Field Friday night.

Even though the Heritage Academy Patriots made it look easy in defeating the Vols 19-6, Starkville Academy coach Jeff Terrill knows it's just one game.

Miscues doom Yellowjackets

MADISON – The rains fell in Madison on Friday night leading to miscues for the Starkville Yellowjackets.
It helped the Madison Central Jaguars secure a 24-8 victory at home.

Starkville and Madison Central combined for 11 fumbles for the night with SHS having six, losing three.

Indians use gameplan to beat visiting Tigers
