Flood insurance rates to decrease

Starkville residents who live in floodplains will soon have some help with their insurance rates as a result of the city being accepted into the National Flood Insurance Program Community Rating System.

SA loses softball outing to Central Academy

Starkville Academy entered Thursday afternoon with a lot of confidence and a chance to grab the first win of the season.

The Lady Volunteers came unraveled in the latter innings and fell to Central Academy 12-1 in five innings at Lady Volunteer Field.

The Lady Vikings scored two in the top of the first aided by Sadie Lindsey's infield RBI single.

Love sends Lady Jackets to volleyball event with confidence

The Starkville High School volleyball team opens the season at the Set It Off Challenge Friday and Saturday in Jackson.

However, head coach Lauren Love will not be making the trip.

After having a baby last Friday, Love has to stay behind as the Lady Yellowjackets begin competition.

City surfacing 2 gravel roads from ’98 annex

Two gravel roads on property annexed by the city of Starkville in 1998 are receiving a much needed facelift.

The city has contracted Okalona-based Ausbern Construction Company to put a cement surface on the remaining unpaved portion of Greta Lane in its entirety as well as several sections of Collier Road.

Restaurant to host wine tasting event

Starkville residents interested in a different dining experience this weekend can look no further than its very own Veranda.

On Saturday, The Veranda will host a specialized five-course menu and wine tasting event beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are still available for $65 which includes tax and gratuity.

Lady Volunteers compete in softball loss

The Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers took advantage of a scoring opportunity during Wednesday's game against Pillow Academy that made for a more competitive situation.

After leaving the bases loaded in the first inning and didn't score, the Lady Vols were able to get two runs on two hits in the third.
