Pudding pops bring memories

Somewhere between long days of kickball and running behind the mosquito truck, my sister and I would enjoy homemade pudding pops. We would sit on our front step or under the cool of our parent’s carport with our popsicles in the plastic Tupperware molds. Our faces would be smeared with chocolate until we washed off under the water hose.

The Starkville School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously Tuesday to remove the System to Enhance Educational Performance screening program, cutting three of the annual evaluations for students in kindergarten through second grade.

MSU earns $1.7 million in rural economy grants

Mississippi State University announced Tuesday that its College of Business has received a $650,000 grant from the federal Economic Development Administration, which it will use to leverage a previously announced $1,065,000 EDA grant to aid rural economic development in 61 Mississippi counties, including Oktibbeha County.

After being heavily recruited out of Meridian High School, there was a tremendous amount of pressure on the Bulldog coaching staff and head coach Dan Mullen to play Russell early.

Lady Jackets return to Beehive and win

It was back at the Beehive for the Starkville High School volleyball team.

After a year away from their on-campus home due to renovations, the Lady Yellowjackets made a successful return by beating Heritage Academy 3-0 Tuesday night.

The Lady Jackets (2-3) played at the Starkville Sportsplex, while improvements were being made to the Beehive.

Starkville Academy drops decision at home

The margin of the loss didn't matter as much to the Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers Tuesday afternoon as the loss itself.

Even as the score grew in Copiah Academy's favor at the Lady Volunteer softball field, the fact that it was a conference game made it hurt a little more for Starkville Academy.
