Starkville Police Department and Oktibbeha County Sheriffâs Department will participate in the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign which began yesterday and runs through Sept. 3.

RIDGELAND â The Starkville Academy Volunteers got the season started off successfully Friday night with a 13-0 shutout against St. Andrews.
Starkville Academy didn't waste any time by scoring on its first possession of the game as quarterback Drew Pellum ran for a 6-yard touchdown. Jonathan Burton added to extra point kick for the Vols.

MABEN â Adam Lowrey took last week's 7-6 loss to East Webster in a jamboree pretty seriously.
So Monday he decided to change some things up.
It was evident it West Oktibbeha's 66-6 victory over S.V. Marshall Friday night at the West Oktibbeha High School football field.
VARDAMAN â The East Webster Wolverines scored four touchdowns on the ground and added a field goal to beat Vardaman 30-14 Friday night.
Deangelo Liggins scored from 28-yards out in the first quarter to make it 7-0. Tyler Crosby converted the point after touchdown.
Marques Reives scored from 8 yards out to make it 14-0 in the first quarter. Crosby, again, was good on the extra point.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs defeated Southeastern Louisiana 2-1 at the MSU Soccer Stadium in its season opener Friday night.
With State starting the season off 0-3 and finishing at 6-10-3 last year, the team wanted to get off to a fast start with a victory this year.
It only took the Bulldogsâ first game to score two goals and obtain a victory which took four games last year.
