SPD charges La. fugitive with burglaries

A fugitive from Lafayette, La. is in custody at Oktibbeha County Jail and charged with four counts of burglary and one count of auto burglary.

Excel By 5 bash readies students for school year

The Excel By 5 Oktibbeha County Coalition will hold its annual Back to School Bash and Health Fair Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Starkville Sportsplex, bringing together more than 50 organizations and service groups to help parents and students prepare for a new school year.

Bulldogs, Tar Heels meet again on court in Hawaii

The Mississippi State Bulldogs have known for a while they would make a return trip to Hawaii.

On Thursday, the Bulldogs learned they would match up with the Tar Heels of North Carolina in the first round of the 2012 EA SPORTS Maui Invitational on Nov. 19. 

Youth-Adult Sportsman League helps sport

Bowling is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States.

Starkville is making sure that trend continues with the Youth-Adult Sportsman League that has been held at Bulldog Lanes this summer.

The league started in late May and runs until next week. There are seven teams competing comprised of high school bowlers from Starkville and East Webster. Each team has one adult.

Mississippi State University is receiving funding from both the United States Department of Energy and the Tennessee Valley Authority to help improve its buildings’ energy efficiency.

Big deal to Little: Starkville Academy player gives back with girls camp

There was something burning inside Starkville Academy girls basketball player Anna Lea Little.

She felt the need to give something back to the community that she loved and was trying to find the right avenue to do it.

By using the game of basketball, Little found a way by hosting the All-Fun summer basketball camp.

MSU freshman Sword's arrest a misdemeanor

Mississippi State men's basketball freshman Craig Sword was arrested on Sunday afternoon on campus.

Sword was charged with possession of a firearm on an educational property, which would be a felony.

However, Sword didn’t actually have a firearm, he was in possession of a BB gun.
