Improvement seems to be the them for the East Oktibbeha football team this fall.
The Titans start practice today in Crawford and are hoping for a better season than last year.
The Titans ended last year with a 5-6 record. Although East Oktibbeha did not achieve a winning record, several players from last year's squad will be missed.
The Starkville Academy fastpitch softball team may have to rely on young talent this year.
The Lady Volunteers open the season at home today against Oak Hill with varsity at 4 p.m. and junior varsity at 5:30 p.m.
SA head coach Kayla Mosley is not too concerned with her young players and is ready to meet the new season head on.

Even Kaytlyn Hurst is surprised by her successful summer venture.
Hurst began her summer vacation with a simple idea that has grown into a charitable charge.
“I started making the bracelets after school let out at the beginning of the summer,” Hurst said. “My mom and I went and bought the kit together.”

In the past five years, I have moved to six different places around the Starkville-MSU area and, quite frankly, I’m sick of it.
Moving is a specific form of first-world torture that claims the souls and disturbs the sleep-cycles of millions of young adults during the last two weeks of July every year.
