Heritage Museum installs new green roof

Continuing their work on the multi-year landscaping project, Mississippi State University students and faculty from both the architecture and landscape architecture departments installed a green roof on the new pavilion outside the Oktibbeha County Heritage Museum Friday.

It didn't take long for the Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers to impress the home crowd.
The Lady Vols ended the first quarter on a 16-0 run to take a 29-7 lead and never looked back in beating Parklane Academy of McComb 73-24 Saturday night.

It's an amazing thing to watch the Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers at work.

Even when starting post player Sallie Kate Richardson went down with what appeared to be only a turned ankle in the pre-game warm-ups, the Lady Vols didn't miss a beat and continued to play well in a 73-24 victory over Parklane Academy Saturday night.

Lady Jackets run streak to five wins

MERIDIAN – The Starkville Lady Yellowjackets won their fifth-straight game by defeating Northeast Jones 54-41 at the Meridian Tournament.

"We hope the trend continues," SHS girls coach Kristie Williams said of the recent success of her team. "We hope to keep them going as we look to get back in action against Grenada next Saturday."

Amid exams, students find time for Hanukkah

This year, Hanukkah happens to start right in the middle of exams at Mississippi State University.

The exams began Friday and will continue through Wednesday; Hanukkah begins at sunset Saturday and continues through Dec. 16. As president of MSU Hillel, MSU’s only Jewish student organization, Joey Frost said he has seen this scenario before.

Bulldogs begin Gator Bowl prep

The Mississippi State football team has had quite a layoff since the last time it saw the gridiron.

That all changed on Friday.

The Bulldogs had their first bowl practice in preparation for the Gator Bowl. MSU faces Northwestern on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 in Jacksonville. ESPN2 will televise the 11 a.m. kickoff.
