Today, the Starkville School District Board of Trustees are expected to address a potential student transfer situation that developed after Oktibbeha County School District’s state takeover.
The school board will meet at 6 p.m. at the Greensboro Center.

The Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors tabled a contract Monday to task Oxford-based urban planning firm Slaughter and Associates with developing a comprehensive plan for the county.

The Starkville Board of Aldermen will hold preliminary discussions on a proposal from First Baptist Church to redesign south Lafayette Street by building a roundabout between the railroad and Lampkin Street during its 5:30 p.m. meeting tonight at City Hall.

Edna Turner sat with one of her daughters during Monday’s funeral service for her husband, Sen. Bennie Turner, while hundreds also paid their respects.
Services were held at Mary Holmes College in West Point where the couple first met.
Mr. Damian William Fischer, 85, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 after a brief illness.
Mass services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Starkville.
Visitation will be held 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 prior to services.
Mr. Charlie "Grady" Rogers Sr., 75, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 at Trotter's Convention Center in Columbus with Brother Louis Sullivan officiating.
Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens of Columbus.
Mrs. Ethel Lorene Wilson White, 93, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 at the OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville. Â
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4 at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville.
Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Park.
Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3 at Welch Funeral Home.

Mrs. Louise Phillips Gray Faust of Columbus, 83, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 at Fairview Baptist Church in Columbus with Rev. Mickey Dalrymple and Rev. Sammy Crawford officiating.
Graveside services will follow at 3:30 p.m. in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Starkville.
Mrs. Rheta Jean Coleman, 78, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Columbus with Rev. William Richardson officiating.
Burial will follow in Sixteenth Section Cemetery.
