Rotary Club gives back with dictionary donation

Starkville Rotary Club members gathered Monday to begin work on the organization’s annual dictionary donation project.

Larry Box, chairman of the dictionary committee, said Rotary District 6,820 sets in place a project to give every third grade child a personal dictionary.

Perkins calling for reversal of plans for city buildings

Ward 6 Alderman Roy A. Perkins will bring a motion before the Starkville Board of Aldermen at its meeting Tuesday to rescind all action pertaining to certificates of participation for new municipal facilities and replace it with a June 4, 2013 bond referendum for a $3.5 million police facility.

School officials mindful of safety, emotions

Before students returned to school Monday, Starkville School District educators and administrators said they already knew how important the first day back to work would be following Friday’s massacre which killed almost 30 people at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

Mullen pleased with scrimmage

For Mississippi State there are two phases to a bowl practices.

The first phase is getting the younger guys some reps and getting the veterans a break.
Sunday the first phase ended.

The Bulldogs capped off the first phase with a scrimmage inside the Palmeiro Center due to the rain.

Gaynor helps MSU women win down stretch

The Mississippi State Bulldogs looked to a senior down the stretch when they needed a victory Sunday afternoon.

Darriel Gaynor scored all nine of her points in the second half as MSU won 67-57 in women's basketball action at Humphrey Coliseum.
