Yellowjackets ready for Meridian

It was a tale of two halves for the Starkville Yellowjackets in the season opener against Greenwood last Saturday.

When it comes to facing the Meridian Wildcats tonight at the Beehive, SHS boys coach Greg Carter wants a more complete effort.

The Yellowjackets established a 12-point lead in the first half before losing a 61-58 decision in the West Point Classic.

County approves lake lease

Oktibbeha County School District conservator Jayne Sargent signed a lease agreement for the OCSD’s portion of the Oktibbeha County Lake and campgrounds at the district’s meeting Monday.

OCSD 16th section land manager Mike Ainsworth said this recreational lease to John Barnett and Rick Stansbury will give the school district $31,290.25 in annual income.

SPD searching for 2 men in connection with armed robberies

Graveside funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 with Brother Jerry Lawson officiating.
Burial will follow in Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery in Cumberland.
Visitation will be held 1:45-2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 prior to services

PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Mrs. Shirlie Emily Ford Parker of Pine Bluff, Ark., 77, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

Memorial services will be held noon Saturday, Nov. 10 , 2012, at the Pine Bluff Country Club in Pine Bluff, Ark.
