Norton ordered to pay insurance bill

Robbie Norton of Cedar Bluff was ordered Friday by the Clay County Circuit Court to pay a total of $220,080 to Metropolitan Casualty in relation to the May 22, 2011 collision that left Starkville resident Jan Morgan in critical condition.

Entering the season, there were analysts and fans alike that circled the Sept. 8 match up with Auburn as the first real test for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

However, as the football gods would have it, the first test for coach Dan Mullen’s Bulldogs will come this weekend when the high-flying offense of Tennessee comes to Starkville.

East Webster hosts Bay Springs in playoffs

When Lee Berryhill took the softball head coaching job at East Webster, he didn't know a whole lot about the program.

In his first season, he has his slowpitch squad into the Class 2A playoffs.

The Lady Wolverines (19-4) host Bay Springs today at 5 p.m. in a best 2-out-of-3 series. All games will be played today.

Ackerman is prepared for deep postseason run

The Ackerman High School volleyball team has played tough competition all season long.

Their schedule has set the Lady Indians up to be used to the type of teams they will play in the playoffs.

Ackerman (9-8) opens the playoffs at home today against Tishomingo County with the match scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.

Brother James A. Townsend, 93, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 at his home in Ackerman.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at Louisville United Methodist Church.
Burial will follow at Parkway Cemetery in Koscuisko.
Visitation was held 5-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman.
