Several Mississippi State fans are anxious to see how their Bulldogs will fare Saturday morning when the Texas A&M Aggies come to town.
The No. 17 (Associated Press) Bulldogs (7-1, 3-1) don't have much time to think about last week's loss to No. 1 Alabama. The No. 16 (Associated Press) Aggies are knocking on the door.
It will be an unfortunate situation if athletics gets taken away, or even partly taken, from the Oktibbeha County schools.
As of right now, its appears the schools still can compete, but only in Class A, Region 3, District 4 games only. That means there can be no participation in the playoffs, no matter what the record shows.
ACKERMAN – For all of the success he has received while wearing the Ackerman jersey, wide receiver Quentin Lane manages to stay humble and continues to work hard every day.
“Every week I just go out there and play my role on the team,” Lane said. “For me, the biggest key is to remain humble, realize the gift God has given me and to keep working hard to make the most of that gift.”
It was an impressive start of the game and the season for the Starkville Christian Cougars at home Tuesday night.
After jumping out to a 21-5 lead after the first quarter, the Cougars saw the Jackson Victors come back to make it close in the fourth quarter, but earned a 72-62 win.
PELAHATCHIE – The Starkville Academy girls basketball team got the 2012 season underway on a positive note.
The Lady Volunteers beat Bowling Green School (La.) 51-46 at the East Rankin Girls Preseason Tournament Tuesday night.
After the first quarter the Lady Vols led 12-8. They entered halftime with a slim lead at 23-21.
After failing to qualify for the Southeastern Conference soccer tournament, Mississippi State has dismissed head coach Neil Macdonald.
The Bulldogs finished 9-10-1 overall and 2-10-1 in conference play. They finished last in the SEC Western division.
Macdonald learned of the decision Monday morning. He will be reassigned in the MSU athletic department for the remainder of his contract.
