HPC will evaluate local sessions, maps

The Starkville Historic Preservation Commission will discuss neighborhood information sessions it has held and will continue holding for its proposed local historic districts, as well as maps of those districts, at its meeting Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall’s Building Department.

The Starkville School District Board of Trustees could hire a new administrator today after Superintendent Lewis Holloway reveals the preferred candidate for the district’s vacant assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction position.

Bulldogs look to Tide; MSU gets ready for a showdown with Alabama

Alabama week is one the Mississippi State Bulldogs have had circled for a long time.

MSU if it took care of business then a battle of unbeatens on Oct 27 was a distinct possibility.

Now, the Bulldogs are a perfect 7-0 as are the Crimson Tide. The winner of Saturday's matchup in Tuscaloosa, Ala., earns the top spot in the Southeastern Conference's Western Division.

DECATUR, Ga. — Mr. Marvin Thomas Bond of Decatur, Ga., 82, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, after a battle with primary liver cancer. 

A service of death and resurrection will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at Decatur First United Methodist Church.
A reception will follow at the church.
Southcare Cremation and Funeral Society is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 in the chapel of West Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. William Richardson officiating.
Burial will follow at Sixteenth Section Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 1-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 at West Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Hershel Wallace Wood, 82, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 at The Arbors at Willow Springs in Spring Hill, Tenn.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Curry Funeral Home of Dyersburg, Tenn. is in charge of arrangements.

Hershel was born in Miston, Tenn. He served a short time in the Air Force and farmed in Noxubee and Pickens counties for over 30 years.
