Not so long ago, Germany was vilified for its slow economic growth, high unemployment rates, and record budget deficits. As late as 2004, The Economist called it the Sick Man of Europe. On the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, Germany sits atop a small list of superpowers and looks set to stay there.
